THE EQUIPMENT
Game balls will be provided by First Baptist Church Waynesville. Teams may provide their own jerseys. Non-marking shoes are required for participation.
THE GAME
Middle school and high school will play on separate courts. Games will be played to 16 and teams must win by two, however, the first team to reach 21 win be declared the winner. All games will have a 15 minute running clock. Each team will be awarded one (45 second) timeout per game. Teams must have a minimum of 3 players to start a game. Game Time Is Forfeit Time! Teams may only have three (3) players listed on their roster. Rosters must be in before the tournament starts.
ELIGIBILITY
Participation is open to all current middle school and high school students. Middle school and high school players will not play in the same game. Every player MUST present a valid student ID or STATE ID at check-in. Professional or former professional basketball players are prohibited from playing in all basketball events. Individuals may only play for one team.
SCORING
All baskets made inside the 3 point line (takeback area) will be scored as one (1) point and offense will retain possession. Baskets made beyond the 3 point arc will be scored as two (2) points. Games will be played to 16 and teams must win by two, however, the first team to reach 21 win be declared the winner. All offensive and defensive fouls will be awarded two (2) points to the opposing team.
LIVE BALL/DEAD BALL POSSESSION
A coin flip will be used to determine which team will begin with the ball at midcourt. Games will be played using a “winner’s out” or “make it take it” format, in which following a made basket, possession will remain the same. Following all made baskets the ball must be checked in at the midcourt line. The offensive player must pass the ball into play.
All fouls and violations will be played out-of-bounds at the top of the court. Out of bounds balls will be played from the midcourt line and must be checked in as well.
Following a missed basket or steal that results in a change of possession the ball must always be taken back beyond the 3 point (takeback) line. Violations will only be called should the offending team score a basket. Should the violating team score a basket, the point will be removed from the scoreboard and a change of possession will take place at midcourt.
SUBSTITUTION
Player substitution is not allowed at any time. Each team is only allowed three (3) team members.
FOULS AND VIOLATIONS
All player fouls and violations will be the sole responsibility of the court official. There will be no appeals regarding calls made on the court. Fouls will be recorded throughout each game. Players who accumulate five (5) personal fouls will foul out of the contest. Questions of rule interpretation are the only situations in which appeals may be made.
Offensive Team Fouls: The defensive team will be awarded two (2) points and will take possession of the ball.

Technical/Intentional/Flagrant Fouls: All incidents of a technical foul, intentional foul or flagrant foul being called will result in an automatic ejection. Any player ejected from a game will be declared disqualified from the tournament. If a team has a team member ejected from the game they may keep playing and may not substitute in any additional player.
TEAM CAPTAIN’S RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Keep teammates and fans up to date on all current rule changes and policies.
· Act as the sole voice for your team.
· Keep control of all players and fans.
· Ensuring all teammates are eligible under the WSM March Madness Rules and Regulations.
Winning Teams:
The winning middle school team and the winning high school team will have to opportunity to play each other at the end of the tournament for bragging rights. Each winning team (one middle school team and one high school team) will get three (3) $50 Visa Gift Cards (one for each member of the team) totaling $150.
